Marketing- The Most Critical Area for Next Generation of Business Leaders

I read in article on marketing today that talked about how executives rank marketing as the most crucial are for the next generation of business leaders. The article talks about how 31% of executives surveyed believed that marketing is the most important are to focus on. This was followed by operations and finical expertise. When asked about why this is Seth Gobin said that "being good enough is no longer good enough." and I agree with him. In today's economy so many ads can be sent out in so many different forms that every person is getting hit with so many different products during the day that its so much harder to get a new product into the heads of consumers. We need new ideas and new faces to come up with the ideas to get products into the heads of the consumers. Thats why it is so important for the next generation of business leaders to really focus on marketing and make it priority because if you don't then you won't have a very easy time trying to get what ever business you're in to do well. Do you agree with this article or do you believe something else is more important?
